The earliest version of this charming pattern was discovered in one of Liberty’s fabric sample books dating from 1937. The design was chosen for its resemblance to specific plant and flower species which are either vulnerable or critically endangered in the UK. Look closely to discover wonderful yet rare blooms: Yellow whitlow-grass, Rampion bellflower and St Barnaby’s thistle. This print is part of the Floral Library narrative of the AW24 collection, which studies the subject through the Botanist’s eye, cataloguing and exploring an assortment of species as well as a being a celebration of key florals throughout Liberty’s history.
The Liberty "Floral Library" collection is a curated selection of floral fabrics, part of their "Curated Floral" collection for Autumn/Winter 2024, that views flowers through a botanist's lens, organizing them by species and scientific study.
